Business Managers Report

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

This is the time of year when we reflect on 2025 and all that we have accomplished as a Local Union. I cannot thank our Local Union office staff and officers enough for the hard work and dedication they put in every day to make this Local the best it can be.

The Health and Welfare Trustees are extremely proud to report that we are once again over 100% funded in 2025. This is an achievement we hope to continue every year. The first time we reached over 100% funding since 1999 was in 2020, and this was made possible by the membership’s understanding of the importance of properly funding the Defined Benefit plan.

Local 654 is very fortunate to have more than 150 applicants each year seeking to enter our apprenticeship program. Over the past five years, we have averaged taking in 19 apprentices annually, and our goal remains to continue growing the membership of our Local. The Apprenticeship Committee is also offering more Journeyman courses. If you are looking for specific classes, please let us know. If you are interested in teaching a class, we encourage you to submit a résumé.

Labor-management relations have been relatively quiet this year, and as a member of CIR in Washington, I can tell you that this is a very good thing. In November, I listened to many grievances over very petty matters. Local 654 has a strong relationship with management, and after a week at CIR, I always count my blessings to be a member of such a well-respected Local.

I would also like to thank all the officers and members who volunteer their time to give back to the community. There are many events throughout the year, and Local 654 is always very well represented. We are known as a Local that shows up when called upon.

Finally, on a personal note, I would like to thank Brother Adams, Brother Kelly, Kristi Legg, and Jacki Brown for stepping up and running the Local without missing a beat while I was recovering from my accident.
I extend my warmest wishes to the membership of Local 654 for a happy and successful New Year, and I look forward to another year of continued progress and shared accomplishments.

Sincerely yours,
LOCAL UNION NO.654, IBEW
